In February 2015, the firm merged with Freed & Co, the Cardiff city centre private client specialist. Freed & Co founder, Jeffrey Freed, who has been one of Cardiff’s leading property lawyers for over 40 years joined Glamorgan Law as a Consultant and Rebecca Goldsworthy, a residential property and wills and probate specialist, became a Partner and Member of the LLP. Rebecca commented: “The merger with Glamorgan Law has gone extremely smoothly and successfully for Jeffrey, for me, for our team and, most importantly, for our clients. It is great to be part of an expanding operation which offers clients such a wide range of expertise. My new colleagues also happen to be a great bunch of people, which makes for a happy and successful working environment.”
The following month brought a significant development in the Cowbridge office when the firm merged with the Cowbridge office of Bridgend based Gaskell & Walker. Richard Beech, the Partner in Charge of the Cowbridge office, commented: “I am delighted that Anthony Taylor, who was the Cowbridge Partner of Gaskell & Walker, and his team have joined us. It means that we have not only acquired his very considerable experience and expertise but also an impressive client list and some great new colleagues. I am pleased to say that Glamorgan Law in Cowbridge is going from strength to strength.”
The summer of 2015 has seen a number of significant appointments reflecting rapid growth and looking towards the future. In addition to Rebecca Goldsworthy, the firm’s Management Team has been further strengthened by the appointment of Llio Preece as a Partner and LLP Member. Llio joined Glamorgan Law when her firm, Anthony Jewell & Co of Pontypridd, merged with Glamorgan Law in January 2011. She commented: “It is very exciting to have joined such an impressive and ambitious management team. As a residential property specialist, my primary task is to manage that area of work in our Pontypridd and Caerphilly offices. I am also looking forward to contributing to the firm’s future growth and management generally. We live in times that are challenging for law firms but which also present considerable opportunities. I am very confident that Glamorgan Law is in a great place to meet those challenges and take the opportunities.”
In Glamorgan Law’s Cardiff office, personal injury and clinical negligence specialists Helen Cradick and Clare Coates have become Senior Associates and litigators Shân Jones and Huw Roffe have been appointed Associates. In Cowbridge, private client expert Joanna Fenoulhet becomes a Senior Associate and commercial property specialist Heath Marshall a Senior Associate.
Peter Davies, the Senior Partner of Glamorgan Law, commented: “The appointments we have made demonstrate confidence in the individuals concerned and optimism in the future of Glamorgan Law. We are building an extremely strong team to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding client base, across a wide variety of disciplines. The key to successful legal practice remains the same now as it was when I started in legal practice more than 35 years ago, namely client services. The provision of first class client service requires technical excellence and management skill and the lawyers we have appointed provide both in abundance. In addition to these senior roles, we have also recently taken in four very promising paralegals and made a number of appointments and promotions amongst our able support team. I am happy to say that the Glamorgan Law formula is definitely working for the firms with which we have merged, for our excellent and ambitious staff and, most importantly, for our clients. The future looks bright for Glamorgan Law.”
