Cardiff and District Law Society invite you to join us for the third event in our exclusive, in-person mini series for lawyers, hosted with our new Annual Partner, Centurion Chartered Financial Planners, hosted on 28 March 2023 at the Law Society Wales office.
In this series, Centurion Chartered Financial Planners aim to explain what good financial advice and investment management look like in a changing world, and to explain why it is in clients’ best interest to understand this, and to show you some practical examples of specialist financial planning and investment management in action.
Event 3: Working in our clients’ best interest: Later Life
28 March 2023 (5pm-6:30pm)
Chartered Financial Planner and SOLLA accredited specialist, Trevor Durham, from Centurion Chartered Financial Planners, will lead the third event in this mini series, to discuss the fundamentals of financial planning in Later Life and why choosing the right options matters.
Trevor has been a full member of STEP since 2022, one of fewer than 100 financial planner STEP members in the UK. He is currently Deputy Branch Chair for STEP Wales.
Trevor has been a Chartered Financial Planner since 2007, a Certified Financial Planner since 2008 and an Accredited Later Life Adviser (a full member of SOLLA) since 2012, where he also currently serves as the SOLLA Wales Regional Co-ordinator.
Centurion will deliver this event series in conjunction with one of its specialist investment partners, Brooks Macdonald Asset Management.
Who should attend?
Our third event – Later Life – is ideal and open to any lawyer offering or considering building a practice to support individuals in Later Life, and their families. The event is free and also open to non-CDLS members.
What to expect
The events, hosted for free in Cardiff-based venues, provide an ideal opportunity to hear from independent financial advisors and investment managers on how to support vulnerable clients in a changed economic landscape – and will, importantly, support lawyers to work in the best interest of their clients at all times – and ensure the financial professionals they work with are in a position to do the same.
Each event includes a series of talks, delivered by Centurion Chartered Financial Planners and guest speakers, and the chance to network informally with peers and speakers. Centurion will deliver this event series in conjunction with one of its specialist investment partners, Brooks Macdonald Asset Management. Our fourth and closing event, is a roundtable format with limited places. Booking is strongly advisable.
Final Series Event: Financial & Legal Services Roundtable Discussion
27 April 2023 (3pm-5pm)
In this final event, we will invite lawyers and law firms that are interested in discussing the business case on how to effectively and compliantly integrate Financial Advice into a law firm’s Service Proposition. Attendees will hear from other law firms that have gone through this process and now pitch themselves as a Legal & Financial Services organisation, and will be able to ask questions in a Chatham House Rules environment.
PLEASE NOTE: Chatham House Rules will apply at this event as it is a unique opportunity to hear the experiences of thriving, forward-thinking law firms that offer holistic legal and financial services to their clients, while remaining independent and compliant. It’s your chance to ask how they have culturally and practically moved towards offering a holistic service, the benefits to clients, and to the law firm financially and in terms of growth.
